Yowamushi Pedal 3rd Season Title and Key Visual Revealed!

Yowamushi Pedal is a popular comic serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion. The 3rd season of its anime adaptation, airing in Jan. 2017, will be titled Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation. A key visual for this season has also been revealed! That title is appropriate given that the 3rd year students will be graduating, and the key visual shows the 1st year and 2nd year students of Sohoku High School.

More than 16 million volumes of Yowamushi Pedal have been sold. This work follows high school bicycle road racers putting their all into cycling, and it is written and illustrated by Watanabe Wataru. Fans were thrilled to hear about the 2nd season’s adaptation, and it was quickly followed by a film. A spin-off series titled Yowamushi Pedal: Spare Bike also received an anime film adaptation in Sept. 2016. This dives into the past of the 3rd year students!

The 3rd season will begin after the 28th volume of the manga, showing the “new generation” taking over after the 3rd year students graduate. The key visual shows the closeness of all of the students including Sakamichi, Imaizumi Shunsuke, and Naruko Shoukichi, as well as Teshima Junta and Aoyagi Hajime.

As the 3rd year students leave, will Teshima and Aoyagi be able to help the 1st year students? The inter-high regular also means there should be 6 members, but there are 5in the illustration, so will someone new join the Shohoku High School team? We’ll have to wait until January to find out!
