Aoyama Gosho Supervises Remake of Detective Conan’s 1st Episode!

A 2-hour special has been planned to commemorate Detective Conan’s 20th anniversary. Aoyama Gosho will supervise Detective Conan Episode One: Chiisaku Natta Meitantei, a new version of the episode which will reveal a number of never-before-seen details.

Detective Conan began airing in 1996. The 1st episode, Jet Coaster Satsujin Jiken (*The Big Shrink/Roller Coaster Murder Case*), shows high school detective Kudo Shinichi being forced to drink the poisonous APTX4869 by the Black Organization. Shinichi is then shrunk into the size of a child by the poison.

This 2-hour special will commemorate the 20 years since the anime aired, and it will reveal entirely new aspects to that story. Protagonist Edogawa Conan/Kudo Shinichi and heroine Mouri Ran will, of course, make an appearance, but the all-star cast will also include the ringleader Jin.
It’s also been announced that there will be appearances by Sherry before she becomes Haibara Ai, the members of the Junior Detective League, Professor Agasa, as well as Mouri Kogoro.

Detective Conan is based on the manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday. 2016 marked an important year for the franchise after 20 years of its anime broadcasting, as well as the release of its 20th film.
Its latest film, Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare, earned more than 6 billion yen in the box office, the highest earnings of any film in the series. There will be a commemorative concert held on Sept. 17 at the Kyoto International Manga Anime Fair 2016.
