“Shonen Maid” to Broadcast on TBS Beginning in April; Cast Includes Natsumi Fujiwara, Nobunaga Shimazaki, Tomoaki Maeno

Manga artist Ototachibana’s family comedy Shonen Maid, which is currently serialized in Kadokawa’s B’s-Log Comic, is getting an anime adaptation. The anime will begin broadcasting this April on TBS and BS-TBS. There will also be an advance screening at the Yurakucho Asahi Hall in Tokyo on March 12, and a discussion with members of the cast is planned.

Shonen Maid is a family comedy in which main character Chihiro Komiya, a boy with strong integrity who likes cleaning, begins working at his uncle Madoka Takatori’s massive mansion as a maid. Serialization of the series began in 2008. Eight tankobon volumes have been published so far.

Members of the main cast were also announced along with the broadcast information. Playing Chihiro, who takes over all of the Takatori families housework, is Natsumi Fujiwara; playing Madoka Takatori, a clothing designer who lives in filth, is Nobunaga Shimazaki; and playing Keiichiro Shinozaki, Madoka’s secretary who does all of the housework, is Tomoaki Maeno.

A collaboration event with Shonen Maid and fellow new spring TBS show Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto titled “Shonen Maid x Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto TV Anime Episode 1 Joint Advance Screening!” will be held on March 12. In addition to an advance screening of episode 1, the three aforementioned main cast members will appear onstage. Also to appear are Hikaru Midorikawa, the star of Shonen Maid x Haven’t You Heard? I’m Sakamoto, and the show’s director, Shinji Takamatsu. Tickets will go on sale at Lawson Ticket on Jan. 16 for 3,240 yen each (tax included).

Directing Shonen Maid is Yusuke Yamamoto who also directed the Encouragement of Climb series. Some of his other achievements include directing the anime adaptations of Sgt. Frog and B Gata H Kei. Other staff members include Yoshiko Nakamura (Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun) as series composer, Kana Shiida (The Irregular at Magic High School) as character designer, and Tomohiro Yamada (Cute High Earth Defense Club Love!) is creating the music. The animation is being produced by 8-Bit.
