Anime Girl Symposium Carefully Selects “Top 10 Good Girls” of 2015 Anime

2015 brought tons of anime with it. We’ve already looked at the hunky guys, but by their sides were a variety of positively cute and cool female characters. It was a year of many charming female characters too. Anime!Anime! held a Anime Girl Symposium at the end of 2015, and there they talked all about female characters. The girls discussed not just cuteness, as expected, but also carefully picked their top 10 “good girls.” Let’s take a look at the results.

[Top 10 Good Girls of 2015]

Nao Tomori - Charlotte
Rin Tohsaka - Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works
Alex Benedetto - Gangsta
Asako Nakamura - Ushio & Tora
Megumi Sakura - School-Live!
Hajime Ichinose - Gatchaman Crowds Insight
Meiko Shiraki - Prison School
Michiru Matsuzaki - The Fruit of Grisaia
Maria - Maria the Virgin Witch
Isla - Plastic Memories

Nao Tomori is the main heroine of the popular anime Charlotte. She’s an enigmatic character who’s at first mysterious but has a short temper. But as she gradually begins to show her true feelings, her demeanor also does a turn-about. Because of that, there are no doubt many fans who were curious about her till the very end and were left captivated by her smile during the last scene.

Asako Nakamura is from Ushio & Tora. Though parts of her personality contrast with fellow heroine Mayuko Inoue, both are heroines with a good balance who each show their good sides. Nakamura cares for main character Ushio, but she’s also a full-blown tsundere who feigns that she doesn’t. The fact that she’s a heroine in a definitive shonen manga is another of her strong points.

Megumi Sakura is from the popular School-Live!. She is a teacher and the only older character among the cast. Even with the content of the series being intense, her story becomes a heroic one.

Hajime Ichinose is from the second season of Gatchaman Crowds Insight. The series has yet another heroine, named Tsubasa Misudachi, and similarly to other series their personalities are contrastive. The season ending with her seemingly sacrificing herself is also impressive.

Chosen from Prison School is Meiko Shiraki, vice president of the underground student council. She has approval from females, who say, “At a glance she looks absolutely scary and intense, but when closely looked at, it’s evident how very loyal she is to the student council,” and, “First off, she’s is a beauty with good style, and her sweatiness is even attractive.”

Isla is the heroine from Plastic Memories. Her being a robot heroine with a life expectancy struck the hearts of fans. Generally speaking, fan opinion is that she’s cute, with fans saying things like, “Though usually cool, the fact that her expressions change so readily is cute,” and, “Though an elaborate android she’s a cute piece of junk who’s clumsy.” It’s because of her tragic setting that this gap can be seen.

Many series were broadcast and screened last year, and 2016 will bring even more. There are likely to be many charming female characters too. With 2016 having just begun, why not look back at the female characters of 2015?
