A tie-in project is underway between the anime Girls und Panzer, a movie to which will soon be released later this month, and character cake specialty shop AniSugar. The shop is offering a limited-time 2015 Christmas cake themed after Girls und Panzer der Film. Pre-orders for the cake began on a special site on Nov. 7, and it costs 4,980 yen including tax.
All of AniSugar’s decorated cakes are officially licensed products, and their distinctive feature is the vivid artwork of popular characters that decorate them. The artwork used on the Girls und Panzer cake this time was created just for the occasion. In the spirit of Christmas, it features the Nishizumi sisters dressed in Santa outfits, giving them a different freshness than their regular uniforms for a cute touch.
The cake also comes with a bonus Christmas plate 19 centimeters in diameter, and this too features the same artwork as the cake. Pre-orders have already begun on AniSugar’s homepage, and they will be delivered between Dec. 19 and 25.
In addition to Girls und Panzer, AniSugar is also selling other Christmas cakes designed with a variety of popular anime characters as well. There’s a wide selection including Ace of Diamond, PriPara, and Nisekoi, so check them out.
In other news, Girls und Panzer der Film will be released in Japan on Nov. 21. This long-awaited all-new movie comes three years after the TV series began broadcasting in October 2012 and after the release of the OVA This is the Real Anzio Battle! in July 2014. In the TV series, Miho Nishizumi and the rest of the girls fought to prevent their alma mater from being demolished, but what will they fight for this time?
