A TV anime adaptation has been confirmed for popular BL (Boys Love) manga Super Lovers by Miyuki Abe, who is known for Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East and other series. Studio Deen is credited with production, and directing is Shinji Ishihara who previously worked on Log Horizon and Fairy Tail.
Super Lovers focuses on four male brothers: a worrywort who is the oldest, stunningly handsome twins, and a wild child who is the youngest. Serialization began in 2010 in Ciel, but moved to Emerald in August 2014 where it is currently in serialization. Eight tankobon volumes have been released to date.
Along with the anime announcement, the main staff has also been revealed at this time. Directing, as previously stated, is Shinji Ishihara, the series composer is Yoshiko Nakamura of Hiiro no Kakera and Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun, and the character designer is Miki Takihara who previously worked as chief animation director on Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East.
The story begins with high school student Haru Kaido being tricked into going overseas at the news of his mother being ill. There he meets to his surprise his “younger brother” who calls himself Ren. While having his hands full with Ren who is a wild child and doesn’t listen to anyone, Haru tries desperately to look after him. However, there is a secret surrounding Ren’s birth. Just when he begins to become attached to Ren, a certain tragedy looms over Haru…
Though the anime and staff were revealed this time, there is still much unknown including broadcast times and dates. Keep it here for follow-up reports to come.
