“All Out!” to Get Anime Adaptation in 2016

Popular sports manga All Out!! currently serialized in the monthly magazine Morning Two (published by Kodansha) is getting a TV anime adaptation. This news was announced on Sept. 17. The anime will begin in 2016.

All Out!! is a series that realistically depicts high school rugby. From among the highly popular sports anime, there is no doubt that its foundational story will draw popularity even as an anime. The TV anime will also likely draw attention for being the first themed after rugby.

Shiori Amase began serializing All Out!! in 2012. A rising artist who puts her all into her work, Amase received an honorable mention for the 60th Tetsuya Chiba Award. The series is regarded for its dynamic style appropriate to rugby while at the same time delicately depicting the characters’ emotions. The story is expressed magnificently with many characters through 15v15 matches. The series is gaining popularity among a wide range of readers, from active rugby players to support from females as well.

All Out!! is set at the Kanagawa Prefectural High School where main character Kenji Gion has a fortuitous meeting on the day of the school entrance ceremony with rugby and a character named Iwashimizu. Gion, who worries about his small stature, and Iwashimizu, who has a tall stature - the story of their adolescence devoted to rugby begins.

The information released this time is that the anime adaptation has been greenlit and the TV broadcast will premiere in 2016. Though information is scarce, there are surely many people curious about the series’ future developments, being that it’s so popular. For now, we’ll have to wait for new announcements including the staff and cast.
