Hands-On “Comet Lucifer” Exhibit to Open in Shinjuku Station Metro Promenade

The TV anime Comet Lucifer will premiere on Oct. 4. It is anticipated for being the first original anime created by anime production studio 8-Bit. In an attempt to appeal more to fans, the series will appear suddenly in Shinjuku on Sept. 21. Right in the middle of Silver Week, an exhibit project that you can not only look at but get hands on with will come to the Shinjuku Station Metro Promenade on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line.

The project is all about passersby jumping into the world of Comet Lucifer. The exhibit space will be installed with monitors and when you look into one you can peek your own face in place of an anime character’s and watch as you’re put into a scene from episode 1. The exhibit will offer the experience of feeling like you’ve become an anime character. The Shinjuku Metro Promenade has been basking in attention lately for the various anime promotional events held there. Among them, this one seems especially interesting.

There are other highlights to the exhibit as well, including a “Gift Gem” from the series hidden somewhere in the exhibit area. You can download the official smartphone app prior, select “Search for the Gift Gem,” and when you get close to finding it you’ll be able to download the first episode of the anime in advance. The episode will also be available to download in 30 anime shops throughout Japan beginning on Sept. 19.

Furthermore, an original water bottle will be distributed in the exhibit space too. Printed on the included instructions is a web address, and when you access it from a smartphone a video will begin. Place the smartphone on top of the bottle while the video is playing and you’ll be able to see a 3D-ish reincarnation of the characters inside the bottle.

How will you actually appear as yourself in the anime? The project is indeed an interesting one that will surely capture the attention of not just anime fans but general passersby too.
