The explosively popular game and anime Show by Rock!! is becoming okonomiyaki. A collaboration has been confirmed between it and popular okonomiyaki chain, Dohtonbori. Collaboration events have already appeared on the game app, and now finally a collaboration will begin in the real world. The “Dekotte Puru Puru! Collaboration Campaign” will begin on Sept. 18.
Show by Rock!! is a character project by Sanrio that is themed after bands. Beginning as a game app, the series has continued to expand into other media including anime, manga, and stage plays. Dohtonbori, which announced this collaboration with Show by Rock!!, is a Japan-wide restaurant chain that serves okonomiyaki (a savoury, pancake-like Japanese dish made with a variety of ingredients). This is indeed a unique pairing.
There will be a lineup of nine types of okonomiyaki on a menu themed after popular bands from Show by Rock!!, Shingan Crimsonz and Plasmagica. The Shingan Crimsonz okonomiyaki are themed after Crow and other characters, and the Plasmagica ones are themed after Cyan and others. Each one brings out the personality of the character it’s themed on. And for your finished okonomiyaki there are decorations that come with each one. There is even one that comes with everything on top.
For each purchase on the collaboration menu, customers will be able to choose between a clear file or a real bromide as a present. Each band order comes with a random sampling of characters from that band. Customers can also get a poster for placing two orders.
The game app is also part of the campaign, and if you input a Dohtonbori code into the game, you can get a limited bromide and items. Except for overseas locations, the campaign will be held at all Dohtonbori locations Japan-wide, so it’s sure to be a real world event fans will be happy about.
