A limited-time shop will be opening for Bungo Stray Dogs, just announced to be becoming an anime. The shop will be open in Shinjuku Marui Annex from Aug. 29 to Sept. 16. The available lineup in the store, titled “Bungo Stray Dogs Armed Detective Agency Sales Department Marui Branch,” will feature a variety of products including items available in advance. There will also be products that feature collaborative artwork with the game Love Heaven, and it’s sure to be a shop fans won’t want to miss.
We can expect products unique to this series that features characters based on real literary masters. With volume 8 of the manga soon to be released on Sept. 4, anticipation is on the rise for the anime adaptation.
The Bungo Stray Dogs manga is a “battle action” story by author Kafuka Asagiri and illustrator Harukawa 35 currently serialized in Kadokawa’s Young Ace. The work is attracting attention for being an unusual series that depicts battles unfolding between characters modeled on literary masters like Atsushi Nakajima and Osamu Dazai who use supernatural powers. The powers possessed by these literary masters are each unique. For example, Osamu possesses the power of “Human Pacification” which nullifies the powers any any other literary master. From volume 3 onward the series also sees literary figures from abroad in its story as well, including F. Scott Fitzgerald and Lucy Maud Montgomery. Currently, volumes 1–7 have been published. The series has over 1.7 million copies in print, and this number will likely increase even more from here on.
Directing the anime adaptation is Takuya Igarashi and penning the screenplay is Yoji Enokido, a production team that has worked on Ouran High School Host Club and Star Driver. Bones is producing the anime. There’s much that hasn’t yet been revealed including the media and announcement schedule, so be on the lookout for follow-up reports.
