Everyone, "JUST DO (WATCH) IT!"

Have you ever tried to make your own mashup video? One particular video uploaded to YouTube in May 2015 has recently become the source of numerous popular mashup videos.

This video features Transformers star Shia LaBeouf against a green screen background shouting “Just do it!”, among other things, to motivate viewers. It seems like this video should inspire you when you’re feeling low on motivation, or have something you need to do that you have been putting off for a while…but there’s just something about Shia's energetic appeal that’s undeniably humorous.

This original video was actually made by art school students in London as part of a video art project that Shia participated in called "#Introductions for Central Saint Martins.” The entire video is over 30 minutes long, but the memorable “Just do it!” portion has been used the most in subsequent mashup videos.

Many viewers have created their own mashup videos and uploaded them to YouTube. Some of the videos incorporate scenes from anime and video games, turning Shia into a main character in each series. Here are a few of these videos that we think TOM fans will particularly enjoy.

First, we have two videos featuring a certain legendary anime series...


That’s right, it’s Dragon Ball! His energy and enthusiasm fits perfectly, doesn’t it? In the Flekcter™ video Shia himself gradually gets stronger until he is able to become a Super Saiyan. The video by mrJoelVFX has Shia inspiring a discouraged Goku to get up and keep fighting. Surprisingly, in both videos Shia’s inspirational words and movement don’t seem that out of place!

What’s this?! Another anime character that was inspired by Shia?


Shia seems to be making appearances in various anime series with impeccable timing, like this video of him encouraging Shinji to pilot the Eva in Neon Genesis Evangelion. I see…so if Shia wasn’t there to deliver his motivational speech, Shinji-kun would have never piloted the Eva, or met Rei or Asuka…

And would you believe that Shia inspired Sonic the Hedgehog!? In this emotional (?) scene, Sonic, encouraged by Shia’s words, is able to become Super Sonic and fly away.

Shia also appears in more cheerful scenes. First they’re talking about band practice and strawberries, and the next moment…well, things get a bit intense. What exactly is going on inside Mugi’s and Mio’s heads?

And finally we have Shia making appearances in fighting games.

This video puts Shia in the middle of a King of Fighters match between Joe Higashi and Iori Yagami. It seems as if all is lost for Iori, but when Shia gives him his words of encouragement, he’s able to make a miraculous comeback!

Oh…there are two Shias in this video. And they’re fighting against each other. I see, it’s supposed to show Shia "conquering himself.” Shia is truly an inspiration.
