Here it is: “School-Live!” Collaborative Canned Food!

The announcement of a collaboration between anime School-Live! and canned food bar Mr. Kanso is making big waves. The collaboration finally began on Aug. 7. Participating Mr. Kanso locations throughout Japan have begun selling School-Live! canned food. Posters have also been hung around the stores and there is even a present campaign for getting original postcards.

School-Live! is a popular manga by author Norimitsu Kaiho and illustrator Sadoru Chiba. It has been developed into an anime that began broadcasting on TV in July. It depicts the slightly oddball days of the School Living Club who live at their school...and it gained uproarious popularity with its surprising twist at the end of episode 1.

A highlight of the series is the frequent meal scenes. These mainly consist of Yuki, Kurumi, Yuri, and Miki eating emergency rations including canned food and ready-made meals. That’s why it’s perfect for collaborating with Mr. Kanso.

Six types of collaboration canned food have been revealed. There’s “Yuki’s Rolled Egg” (600 yen), “Kurumi’s Corned Beef” (850 yen), “Ri-san’s Homemade Mackerel and Boiled Miso” (850 yen), “Mi-kun’s Medium Spicy Mabo Dofu” (600 yen), “‘Their’ Numbingly Spicy Curry” (600 yen), and “School Living Club’s Luxurious Boiled Beef” (1,000 yen). The name and flavorings of each one come right from the series. The artwork on the front and back of the cans is also wonderful. Get a lineup of them and you can have yourself a small but extravagant feast.

The impressive artwork was drawn just for the occasion and features Yuki holding canned food with Megu-ne behind her. Also, those who purchase a collaboration canned good from one of the participating stores will receive one original postcard as a present. There are three cards to collect and each will be given out at random while supplies last.
