High Speed!, the novel that served as the foundation of Free!, is getting a new movie adaptation that opens in theatres from Dec. 5, 2015. The movie is titled High Speed! -Free! Starting Days-, and is quickly making waves in the community. The story revolves around water-loving Haruka Nanase and his close friend Makoto Tachibana as they progress through their days as junior high school students.
Additional information about the movie we are all looking forward to has finally been released. In the new movie adaptation, Haruka and Makoto make their move as junior high school students towards their dreams. They are not alone, as the characters Asahi Shiina, Ikuya Kirishima, Nao Serizawa, and also Natsuya Kirishima are set to join them at Iwatobi Junior High.
We already had a sneak peek at the key visuals of Asahi and Ikuya in previous announcements. This time, the visuals of Nao and Natsuya, as well more information about character roles have also been revealed.
Like Haruka and Makoto, Asahi and Ikuya are both first-year students. While Asahi specializes in the butterfly stroke, Ikuya is strongest in the breaststroke.
Unlike the other four, Nao and Natsuya are third-year students. In the movie, Nao assumes a manager-like role for Natsuya, who happens to be Ikuya’s older brother. Natsuya places his trust in Nao, and battles through the differences that he has with Ikuya.
The cast of the movie remains unannounced, and is something for fans to look forward to in future reports.
The movie is directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto, and will open in theatres from Dec. 5. Like Free!, Kyoto Animation will handle the animation production.
