In the second season of the TV anime, the curtain rose on an intense Inter-High battle in the bicycle road racing manga which is published in Weekly Shonen Champion - Yowamushi Pedal.
This first original theatrical feature film which features a newly written story by the original author, Wataru Watanabe, will be released nationwide throughout Japan on Aug. 28, 2015. The director of the TV series, Osamu Nabeshima, will serve as the movie’s chief director with the energetic Norihiro Naganuma directing. Finally, a new trailer which will be shown in cinemas all over Japan and new screenshots have been unveiled.
The trailer features Lastgasp’s “Link,” and the screen shots from the film (of which there are an abundance), demonstrate the sheer scale and impressiveness of the theatrical movie plus the overwhelming feeling of speed in the images. A new battle will unfold on Mount Aso in Kumamoto, The Land of Fire.
Beginning with Sohoku High and Hakone Academy, champion schools will be coming together once again. However, for some reason Sohoku’s Makishima will not be participating in the race… From the story which has been unveiled so far, Makishima will be quitting the cycle club without taking part in the race because he’ll be going to study abroad in the UK.
Huh? Maki-chan isn’t taking part in the race?! Will we be able to see him racing up on the big screen? We just can’t wait for the movie to open!

Along with the trailer, it’s also been revealed that those who go to see the new movie will receive a special original rubber keychain as a bonus gift, each of which features the super deformed mid-race figures of the characters and will be changed on a weekly basis.

Story
The setting is The Land of Fire - Kumamoto, Mount Aso.
Turning up the heat this summer - a new race begins!
Sakamichi Onoda is an anime- and figure-loving otaku who has just joined Sohoku High School. Cycling the 90km between Chiba and Akihabara on a granny bike, he unknowingly polishes his pedalling power and when that genius ability is exposed he joins the cycle racing club. Sakamichi, conspicuously making a real effort, takes part in the nationwide Inter-High and after a fierce battle takes responsibility for the team’s dreams and wins a stunning overall victory.
After the Inter-High has finished and the summer is drawing to a close, Sakamichi trains hard every day with Shunsuke Imaizumi and Shoukichi Naruko to inherit the spirit of the Sohoku High School team which “rides flat out and supports each other” from the soon to graduate Shingo Kinjou and Yusuke Makishima.
One day, the Sohoku team receives an invitation from the “Kumamoto Land of Fire Yamanashi Race” which high-rated teams from the Inter-High will be entering, and the team’s captain Shingo Kinjou decides all the Inter-High team members will take part. Hakone Academy who don’t usually take part in this race, decide to compete in order to take revenge against Sohoku and from within them ace climber Jinpachi Toudou is filled with excitement in anticipation of facing his rival, Makishima. Also, Kyoto Fushimi who competed so ruthlessly in the Inter-High and the rival team of Hiroshima Kureminami also announce they will be competing, and on top of that, Shin Yoshimoto, the “climber of fire” who couldn’t achieve his dreams of participating in the Inter-High because of injury, has fully recovered and has set his sights on winning as a local representative of Kumamoto Daiichi.
As it’ll be the “final race” from the point of view of the current Sohoku team, Sakamichi sets about raising morale. However, in the middle of doing that he finds out that Makishima will be leaving the cycling club and not participating in the race because he’s going to study abroad in the UK. The senpai who always supported him and whose back he was always chasing will soon be gone. Not only that, he will be the only climber left on the team… Sakamichi is struck by huge shock and pressure.
A road race on the scorchingly hot Mount Aso in Kumamoto, The Land of Fire. “Inheriting the team spirit, we’ll excel ourselves” - with fiery determination in their chests, the guys once again stand at the starting line!
