Several projects are underway for the Naruto series including a spin-off manga and stage play under the “Naruto New Era Opening Project.” The project will culminate on Aug. 7 with the Japan-wide release of the movie Boruto: Naruto the Movie.

With roughly a month left until the movie’s release and anticipation building, new news has been announced for Naruto. “Naruto Exhibit Mini in Theaters” is being held in 10 theaters across Japan, and we’ve learned a special tabloid titled New Konoha Times will be distributed in celebration of the movie’s forthcoming release as well.

“Naruto Exhibit Mini in Theaters” began in 10 theaters throughout Japan on July 11. The event is a branch-off of the “Serialization Conclusion Commemoration: Masashi Kishimoto Naruto Exhibition” held last month in Tokyo and opening in Osaka on July 18. Included are countless valuable keyframe replicas and illustrations on display. It’s the ideal opportunity to be able to look back at the road Naruto has walked over the last 15 years.

In other news, a tabloid-type flyer titled New Konoha Times created in celebration of the movie’s forthcoming release is being distributed now in theaters Japan-wide. It features a stunning, full color poster visual drawn exclusively for the tabloid by Masashi Kishimoto. In addition to this, the inside pages feature the first chapter of the short serialized story Naruto Side-Story: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring Month printed in a larger size than the comic. This is an item Naruto fans won’t want to miss out on.

The serialization of Naruto in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump ended after 15 years in 2014. However, developments for the series are continuing under the ongoing “Naruto New Era Opening Project.” The culmination of the project, Boruto: Naruto the Movie, is gaining attention for its story that depicts the new generation of the series with the main character being Boruto, Naruto’s son.
