“Shenmue 3” Reaches Crowdfunding Goal of $2 Million in Record Speed

The crowdfunding campaign for Shenmue 3 that began on June 16 has reached its goal of $2 million (approximately ¥247 million). The goal was reached just 9 hours after the project was announced.

Goal reached

The first part of the action adventure game Shenmue was released in 1999 and the second part in 2001. It was a flagship title on the Dreamcast and is also known for its extraordinary production cost (¥7 billion for part 1, ¥2 billion for part 2). However, the story went unfinished and fans have been calling for a sequel for years.

Similarly to Cookie Clicker, support for the game multiplied in the blink of an eye.
