New information has been revealed for the TV anime God Eater based on the popular game of the same name. The news was revealed during the anime event Machi Asobi Vol. 14 held in Tokushima from May 3-5. First up is the broadcast start date, with the earliest broadcast being on Tokyo MX on July 5. With the main cast and staff also revealed at this time, it seems things are picking up for the start of the broadcast.
Other than Tokyo MX, the show will be on-air all throughout Japan on a number of channels. These include Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, BS11, Kochi Sun Sun TV, TV Ehime, Okayama Broadcasting, and Shikoku Broadcasting.
Playing main character Renka Utsugi is Ryuichi Kijima who won the audition for the part. He will pick up attention for how he plays this character original to the anime. Additional cast members include Hiroaki Hirata as Rindo Amamiya, Kazuya Nakai as Soma Schicksal, Sayaka Ohara as Sakuya Tachibana, Daisuke Sakaguchi as Kota Fujiki, Maaya Sakamoto as Alisa Illinichina Amiella. Much of the cast are well-known, popular voice stars from the game.
As reported previously, Takayuki Hirao of The Garden of Sinners: Paradox Spiral and Magical Sisters Yoyo and Nene fame is the director and sound director. Music group Oldcodex is handling the opening theme. These artists who created theme songs for Free!, Kuroko’s Basketball, and others will express the series’ world. The character designer is Keita Shimizu and the anime is being produced by ufotable.
Preceding the broadcast, the web radio show Renka & Hibari & Licca’s Fenrir PR Department will stream in June. Personalities for the show include Ryuichi Kijima, Kanae Ito, and Chiaki Omigawa.
The TV anime God Eater is based on a popular action game series by Bandai Namco of the same name that has sold over 3 million copies. The series follows the activities of a special force that wields God Arcs, living weapons created to oppose unknown life-forms.
