At last, Attack on Titan Part II: Wings of Freedom is getting a nationwide release in Japan on June 27. This film is the second part of a compilation of the anime series that created a sensation when it was first broadcast in 2013. A highly anticipated film, tickets have already gone on sale, and the second round of advance tickets will be made available for purchase from April 18. Artwork made for these advance tickets has been released. The characters featured are the ever-popular Levi and Erwin. Expectations are high indeed for this film’s release!
In the image, the characters are standing back-to-back, with a Titan drawing near in the background, which will definitely strike a chord with fans. Apart from its use on tickets, this visual will also be used for a limited quantity of clear files that come with the tickets. Advance tickets are 1,400 yen, and movie tickets are 1,500 yen (tax included), and they will be sold at theatres showing the movie throughout Japan. Other main visuals are being prepared in addition to both these illustrations.
The first part of the Attack on Titan movie series was released in November 2014 and garnered critical acclaim. That film was a recap of episodes 1-13 of the television series. Rather than just reusing the same content from the series, the film was noted for remastering the audio in 5.1 with new dubbing, and this can be experienced in theatres.
Attack on Titan is set in a world where giants known as “Titans” roam the earth, devouring human flesh and causing destruction. Only a few scattered enclaves of survivors remain, and they defend against the Titans’ aggression by building huge walls over 50 meters tall. However, humanity was threatened by a new menace with the appearance of a Colossal Titans who cannot be stopped by walls. This is the struggle of the protagonist Eren and his companions.
The original Attack on Titan manga has been made into an anime TV series, anime films, and in summer 2015 two live-action films will be released. Furthermore, a new TV series is scheduled to be released in 2016, so we won’t be able to take our eyes off all the happenings!
