Production was announced to have begun on the short flash anime Bar Kiraware Yasai, a joint project between Kadokawa and Shizuoka Asahi TV. The anime will begin broadcasting on Shizuoka Asahi TV in April. Ahead of the broadcast, it will also be distributed in advance online. This will begin in March on the web broadcasting channel, Sun Set TV. Audiences will be able to leisurely enjoy the show before its TV broadcast.
In Bar Kiraware Yasai, vegetable characters worried about things like smelling bad, people being hesitant to even eat them, and being hated by children visit a bar and talk amongst themselves about their similar worries. This is a short animation in which the characters talk about their troubles over cups of sake so they can face forward to tomorrow. The unique premise will show through the sorrows of vegetables the difficulties of living in modern society. The series is based on character content developed on the manga distribution site ComicWalker and Twitter. It can be read for free. Now, not only is this web-born series getting an animation, it’s coming to TV.
Directing the anime is Mankyu who has a talent for short anime, having previously directed Gundam-san, Puchimasu! Puchi Idolmaster, and others. Producing the animation is Gathering, which has created Gudetama and Kakkokawaii Sengen, among others. The sound director is voice actor Keiji Fujiwara. Fujiwara also plays the role of Eggplant in the anime, and his performance will likely be a highlight.
The cast includes Masato Tanaka as Celery, Haruka Michii as Parsley, Yuya Murakami as Goya, Rena Maeda as Tomato, Takayuki Kondo as Master (bartender), and Madoka Tomishiro as Kimurabi. Just what will the finished anime look like? It seems this series will be hard to predict.
In charge of the music for the anime is Suzumu, a multi-talented creator from Shizuoka Prefecture. Also, along with voicing Tomato, Rena Maeda is creating the main theme and ending theme.
Not stopping at just broadcasting in Shizuoka Prefecture, the anime will also be distributed on the Internet broadcasting channel Sun Set TV, which was launched as a new business venture by Shizuoka Asahi TV. News on various events, goods being developed, tie-in campaigns, and surprise cast members will be announced soon, so don’t miss our follow-up report.
