The movie Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Ars Nova DC long awaited by fans was released Japanwide on Jan. 31. Based on the original manga by Ark Performance, this animated film adaptation comes after the series gained huge popularity with the broadcast of the TV anime in 2013. In addition to being a re-edit of the TV series, the film features 40 minutes of new material as well as even higher quality visuals, which the series is highly reputed for. There are also shocking developments that come to light that were previously kept hidden.
Possibly the biggest surprise regarding this film series are its new characters. Joining the lineup this time––which includes the previously announced Fog Student Council characters Hiei, Ashigara, Haguro, Nachi, and Myoko––are two characters new to the series. One is Musashi’s mental model, and the other is Shozo Chihaya, father of Gunzo Chihaya. They are being played by Rie Kugimiya and Joji Nakata, respectively. These are important characters who hold the key to the next development in the series.
Along with the release of Part 1, Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Ars Nova DC, on Jan. 31 came new information about Part 2. The title of the film is Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Ars Nova Cadenza and it will be released on Oct. 3. The film will be entirely new and depict a new drama between Gunzo and Iona, the Fog Student Council, Yamato, and Shozo Chihaya. Because of the high perfection of DC, fan anticipation is expected to be considerably high. Beginning Jan. 31, special tickets that come with a bonus went on sale in movie theaters screening DC. The bonus is an item featuring all five members of the Fog Student Council and attracts the eye with its phrase, “The morals of the Fog, are the morals of Earth.”
