New cast character visuals have been revealed for the stage play Yowamushi Pedal Inter-High Chapter: The Winner to be performed in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka beginning in March. Two characters were revealed this time: Kureminami Technical High School’s Eikichi Machimiya played by Yuhei Yamamoto and Ryo Ibitani played by Yuichi Matsumoto.
The stage play is based on the manga of the same name by Wataru Watanabe that is currently serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion. There are currently 37 volumes of the manga with more than 12 million copies in print, and with the broadcast of Season 2 of the TV anime that began in October 2014 still underway, both the original manga and anime are in the midst of a rise in popularity.
The first Yowamushi Pedal stage play in the series came in February 2012 and the fifth came in November 2014. With each installment audiences increased and it’s now common for tickets to sell out right after they go on sale. Suffice it to say tickets are hard to come by for this series.
This time, the third day of the Interhigh with Sohoku’s victory hanging in the balance is finally getting a stage play adaptation. The character visuals released this time are of two newly introduced members of the Hiroshima Kureminami Technical High School cycling team.
