Fans Rush to See Cybil System Hacked by Motoko Kusanagi in Shinjuku Station

The release of a new Ghost in the Shell film was announced on Jan. 8, and Psycho-Pass the Movie will release Japan-wide on Jan. 9. Now a collaboration that crosses over the boundaries of these two films has surprisingly appeared in Shinjuku Station.

A display of the Cybil System of Psycho-Pass hacked by Motoko Kusanagi, who appears during the event along with characters from Psycho-Pass, from the new Ghost in the Shell flm was set up in the metro promenade of the Marunouchi Line in Shinjuku Station on Jan. 8 at 18:00.

After receiving information prior that something would happen with the metro promenade Cybil System, the editorial department at Anime!Anime! headed to the scene to find out what would happened. We arrived five minutes before preparations were complete, and what was waiting there was a surprise.

Psycho-Pass characters including Shinya Kogami were projected on all monitors of the Cybil System and a crowd formed. Even though there were no announcements made regarding this event, the crowd swelled to several hundred in mere moments.

Motoko Kusanagi also appeared on screen together with the characters of Psycho-Pass. And there was also an announcement about a new Ghost in the Shell film. It was only several seconds long, but plenty of the crowd was surprised by it.

The results were a bit unfortunate in that the sheer amount of people prevented the Anime!Anime! editorial staff from being able to capture a front-on picture of the advertisement. Please forgive our photos, as they were taken at a bit of a distance. All in all, it was a day that showcased the high popularity of Psycho-Pass and Ghost in the Shell.

This Cybil System hacking by Kusanagi will be held from Jan. 9-11. There will be five events per day at 9:00, 11:00, 15:00, 19:00 and 23:00. Those who are interested should visit the station to check it out.
