New Feature-Length Movie by Team Behind Anohana - Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun Da to Release in 2015

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku wa Mada Shiranai (commonly called Anohana) is a sorrowful anime that has brought many feels to the world in the form of a TV anime in 2011 and a feature film in 2013. Now, the staff behind Anohana has a new project in the works for 2015.

This previously announced project is being worked on by director Tatsuyuki Nagai, scriptwriter Mari Okada, and character designer Masayoshi Tanaka, and now the title has been revealed. The title of the movie is Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun Da (The Heart Wants to Shout). Continuing from Anohana, this as well has a striking title. It will be a completely new anime.

These announcements were made during the climax to the regularly held Chichibu Night Festival at the Chichibu Shrine, a location related to Anohana, on Dec. 2 and 3. This festival has a proud history of over 300 years, and each year there is a fireworks show on Dec. 3. In fact, the Anohana team also gets in on the fun and every year launches a firework packed with their feelings of gratitude toward their hometown. At the event to countdown the launch this year was the voice of Menma, Ai Kayano. At the same time the fireworks were launched, the title of the new project Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun Da was announced. Roughly 80,000 people from all parts of Japan were gathered for the event, and this announcement was a pleasant treat for enthusiastic fans.

Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun Da is a project that follows up Anohana, and it was revealed at the event Anohana Festival Final held on Aug. 31 of this year in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture. This set in motion the Anohana team getting back together, and the tag team of director Nagai, scriptwriter Okada, and character designer Tanaka formed once again.

Details are still unknown regarding Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun Da, but as the second part of the team’s adolescent drama series, it seems the story will once again depict the trials of adolescence. It was also revealed that, just like Anohana, the story will be set in Chichibu.

At the same time as this announcement, a special portrait filled with gratitude for the past support of Anohana and requests of support for their new work Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun Da was given to the city of Chichibu. This took the form of a message from Menma, and it was written by the Anohana team. This was also folded inside the morning newspaper on Dec. 4 for the Chichibu area. The newspapers that included the portrait where Yomiuri, Mainichi, Asahi, Sankei, Tokyo, Nikkei, and Saitama, and these were distributed to roughly 39,100 households. These also began being distributed in limited quantities on Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Chichibu Visitor Information Center in front of Seibu-Chichibu Station and at roadside stations around Chichibu.
