Manga artist Yasuhiro Nightow’s full-force battle-action manga Blood Blockade Battlefront is being adapted into an anime television series. The series suddenly became a focus of attention after the staff and cast were announced along with the production. It was revealed on Nov. 18 that the series would start airing in 2015. Sometime in the year 2015, the anime adaptation of Blood Blockade Battlefront will surface.
At the same time of this announcement, a teaser PV was released on the show’s official website. This is the same PV that was shown at the Jump Special Anime Festa 2014, an event that was held in six major Japanese cities in November. As the production of the anime was only announced recently, the PV doesn’t include characters or parts of the anime, but it makes a brilliant introduction of the world and the series’ highlights. For starters, Rikiya Koyama will be narrating the show. Isn’t that perfect for such an intense piece as Blood Blockade Battlefront? In addition, you can also see the storyboards used for during production among the pictures.
Moreover, the PV also features numerous animation settings. The art settings depicting the scenery of the main stage, Jerusalem’s Lot, are so wonderful there is no doubt you’ll find them captivating. Jerusalem’s Lot is a place where our world intersects with another world, and those settings have really captured that feeling. This art was drawn by the hands of Shinji Kimura, the art director of the show. If you are familiar with his previous works as art director, such as Steamboy, Tekkonkinkreet, and Blue Exorcist: The Movie, you can guess the anime’s quality, and this is more than enough to raise expectations for the anime.
The staff also lines up numerous other talented members, such as the newly found Rie Matsumoto, who is gathering attention from HeartCatch PreCure the Movie: Fashion Show in the Flower Capital... Really?!; scriptwriter Kazunao Furuya, who works in the field of live action drama; and character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, known for his work in Cowboy Bebop and Noragami. Bones, a studio recognized for its high quality works, is supervising the animation production. It’s safe to say that this will be one of the core shows of 2015.
