“Moonlight Densetsu” & Revolving Moon Set Hearts Afire! Sailor Moon Star-Shaped Music Boxes to Re-Release

The popularity of Naoko Takeuchi’s original work Sailor Moon still shows no signs of faltering, and a new anime celebrating the 20th anniversary of the anime and manga is being distributed on Niconico Douga. Star-shaped music boxes have now been introduced by the “Moonlight Memory Series,” which re-releases toys sold during the 1992-93 broadcast of the anime including the previously released “Crystal Star Brooch” and “Cosmic Heart Compact.” Pre-orders are now being taken on Premium Bandai between Oct. 20 and Nov. 20.

The music boxes being released this time come in two versions: 1992’s gold version and 1993’s pink version. The theme song “Moonlight Densetsu” comes pouring out when you wind the spring on the bottom, and while the music is playing, the moon in the center rotates, showing it waxing and waning. The moon is accompanied by a rhinestone that adds even more splendor. A gold-colored chain is also included, so you can wear it in place of a pendant.

These music boxes that have no doubt lit fans hearts aflame cost 5,400 JPY each (tax included, shipping not included). They will release in March 2015. Because this is a monumentally important item given to Usagi by Mamoru (Tuxedo Mask) that brings back Mamoru’s memory, it may also make for a good present for the special people in your life.
