The manga Terra Formars, which shows the battle between humans and Terraformars, beings that evolved from cockroaches, with the existence of both hanging in the balance has become an anime the broadcast to which began in September. Continuing from the OVA BUGS 2 now comes Annex I.
A version of the anime called the original version will be distributed in Japan online. Episodes 1-3 will be distributed on Niconico Live at 25:30 on Oct. 16 and on GyaO! at 18:00 on Oct. 17 (Those outside Japan may not be able to watch the videos.).
The anime to be distributed is the original version, the content of which differs from what has transpired in the TV broadcast so far. This original version that differs from what has come before it will look back at a prologue to the story. Concrete information on what will be different hasn’t been revealed, but there is no doubt that looking for the differences from the normal version will be fun. You’ll want to enjoy this aspect of the original version.
Terra Formars began serialization in Miracle Jump (Shueisha) in 2011. After that, it moved to Weekly Young Jump, where it became one of the magazine’s standout works. Currently, there are 10 volumes of the manga with 8.83 million copies in print. It seems this hit series will increase in popularity even more with the anime adaptation.
The secret to its popularity is its immense scale, being set both on Earth and on Mars, and the battles against the Terraformars, beings that evolved from cockroaches. It’s merciless story and extreme depictions are also highlights.
In the TV version of Annex I, 20 years have passed since the tragic BUGS 2 expedition landed on Mars. In order to save a ravaged Earth from the mysterious A.E. Virus that came from Mars, a crew captained by Shokichi Komachi heads to Mars, which is rampant with Terraformars, to get their hands on a sample of the virus. Each of the members embarking to Mars has undergone new human modifications called M.O. Operations. Who will be the species to survive: humans or Terraformars? This is an anime to pay attention to this fall.
