Terraformars is a sci-fi manga currently serializing in the manga magazine Weekly Young Jump (Shueisha). The work, created by author Yu Sasuga and illustrator Kenichi Tachibana, depicts an ongoing battle on Mars between humans and evolved cockroaches called Terraformars. The series has gathered popularity for its overwhelmingly intense visuals and ruthless story. Attention on the series is also going through the roof due to the TV anime to begin broadcasting in October.
Shiseido’s top hair and makeup artist, Tadashi Harada, has recreated in real life a popular character from the series in a unique collaboration with Terraformars. That character is Michelle K. Davis. Harada worked together with a stylist, costume director, and 3D artist to create three unusual versions of Michelle K. Davis. These creative works that bring out all of Michelle’s beauty are surprising.
Michelle K. Davis’ father underwent the Bug Procedure that transplants in humans the abilities of insects, and she gained the powers of the Blast Ant after her M.O. Operation. In addition to being a glasses-wearing beauty, she also exhibits formidable strength. For this project as well, both her beauty and strength were captured. Harada’s creative imagination and high level of skill are also highlights.
Among the three versions created by Harada, the one he created along with stylist Tsuyoshi Takahashi has a stressed fashion sense and beautiful pure white theme. The version created with costume director Saori Tsuji draws attention to her strength with black metal armor and a helmet themed after a bug. And the version created with CG artist Kaihei Hayano...? This visual will actually be specially unveiled in the October issue of Ultra Jump on sale Sept. 19 and November issue on sale Oct. 18. There will also be a special feature in Weekly Young Jump in which this CG version will be revealed. Look forward to it.
