The False Eizan Railcar Appears?! What is This The Eccentric Family Surprise Project?

Kyoto International Manga Anime Festival 2014 (Kyomaf) will be held at Miyako Messe in Kyoto for two days, Sept. 20 and 21. This fall event widely introduces the newest anime and manga. The Kyoto railway company Eizan Electric Railway is teaming up with Kyomaf on the “The False Eizan Railcar Appears?!” project. The project will be a collaboration with the TV anime The Eccentric Family, the 2013 TV anime to which was highly popular.

The Eccentric Family is based on an original bestselling novel by author Tomihiko Morimi. The series includes components unique to its Kyoto setting, including the “False Eizan Railcar” which is modeled after Eizan Electric Railway’s Dena 21 series of train cars. At this collaboration event, Eizan Electric’s familiar Dena 21 series train car decked out as the False Eizan Railcar will be on display for a limited time from Sept. 20 to Jan. 11, 2015. Also, “The Eccentric Family x Eizan Railway” wrapped trains will be in service through the duration of the event. The inside of the trains and their head markers will be taken over by characters from The Eccentric Family.

Also, collaborative 1-day train passes (one kind) and train tickets (four kinds) will be on sale for a limited time from Sept. 20 to March 31, 2015. For the first day of sales, 300 limited tickets have been prepared for sale in Demachiyanagi Station that come as a set with a bonus item attached. This rare item will likely gather popularity. The set of four tickets (210 yen each) and one day pass (1,000 yen) costs 1,840 yen.

A stamp rally will also be held at Demachiyanagi Station and Kurama Station. The first 1,000 people to collect a stamp from both locations will receive as a present an original “The Eccentric Family x Eizan Railway” sticker. The newest information on this collaboration will be announced on the official site and Twitter account of Eizan Electric Railway.

The Eccentric Family began its TV broadcast in July 2013. It picked up attention for its bizarre story that unfolds in Kyoto between tanuki, tengu, and humans. It has been highly praised and was the Animation Category Excellence Award winner at the 17th Japan Media Arts Festival.
