Today (Sept. 1, 2014), Square Enix announced at the SCEJA Press Conference 2014 that they will release a new action RPG game entitled Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryū to Sekai Ki no Shiro ( Dragon Quest Heroes: Darkness Dragon & Castle of the World Tree) on PlayStation 4 in spring 2015. Developing the game is Koei Tecmo Games’ ω-Force.

According to a release issued after the press conference, the game will also be available on PlayStation 3.

As one might suspect from the development team, the game will be a Dynasty Warriors type of action game, with the incredible action carried out through the game’s original characters. Alena and other characters from Dragon Quest IV make an appearance at the end of the trailer, so it’s possible they may make guest appearances.

NOTE: When first published, this article listed Dragon Quest VI as the title in which Alena appears, but the correct title is Dragon Quest IV. We apologize and have made the correction.

It was also revealed that a Metal Slime-themed PS4 console (with a silver design) called the “PS4 Dragon Quest Metal Slime Edition” will be released. Details will be made available at a later date.

**Announcing the Release of Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryū to Sekai Ki no Shiro**

Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd., (Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo. CEO: Yosuke Matsuda) would like to announce plans to release the latest title in the Dragon Quest series, Dragon Quest: Yamiryū to Sekai Ki no Shiro, in spring 2015 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

This game will be the first true action RPG in the series. Not only will the characters and monsters designed by Mr. Akira Toriyama romp about freely on the screen, players will not want to miss the exhilarating and impressive spells and techniques that have been brought back to life in realistic graphics.

Managing the game’s development is ω-Force (Omega Force), part of Koei Tecmo Holdings Co., Ltd. This is a dream collaboration between Dragon Quest, which has a long history as an RPG, and ω-Force, which has gained a large following of action game fans through series such as Dynasty Warriors.

Not including spin-off titles, this will be the first new full Dragon Quest title to be released on the PlayStation platform in 10 years, following Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, which has sold a total of 5 million copies worldwide 1.

Commemorating the Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryū to Sekai Ki no Shiro Release
**PS4 Dragon Quest Metal Slime Edition to be released!**

To commemorate the release of Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryū to Sekai Ki no Shiro, Square Enix has made plans to release the “PS4 Dragon Quest Metal Slime Edition,” which comes in a set with a wireless PS4 controller with a special design and a Liquid Metal Slime USB cover figure. With the concept that they were made by a metal smith who defeated a Liquid Metal Slime and used its metal fragments, the PS4 and wireless (DualShock 4) controller included with this product feature a special design that uses the image and color of the character.

It also includes a Liquid Metal Slime figure that can be mounted in the PS4’s USB hub! By mounting this figure with its high-quality feel and metallic shine onto the PS4, we hope fans can enjoy the world of Dragon Quest on an even greater level.

Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryū to Sekai Ki no Shiro will appear in the Square Enix space at Tokyo Game Show 2014 being held from Thursday to Sunday, Sept. 18-21, 2014.

A stage with demonstrations of the actual game has been planned, along with a display of the “PS4 Dragon Quest Metal Slime Edition,” which was unveiled for the first time today.
