Anison Rock 2014, an anime song festival featuring nothing but female artists, will be held on Sept. 27 at Club Citta in Kawasaki. It seems there is tremendous excitement for this event at which a group of popular artists, which includes Mitsuko Horie, will perform their most popular hits in rock-inspired arrangements.
Anison Rock is a unique project in which artists give rock performances of their usual hits. All of the performers are female, and the artists perform their own songs, of course, along with challenging themselves with other anime songs they respect. Performing at the event will be Mami Kawada who sung the theme song to the series Shakugan no Shana and A Certain Magical Index and Maon Kurosaki, a member of the vocal unit Altima which was in charge of the ending theme to Highschool of the Dead. Also performing will be Mitsuko Horie who has sung the theme songs to many series beginning with Candy Candy. Fans’ anticipation will rise over how Horie, who is known as the anison queen, will arrange her hits for this event. Aldious, which is at the forefront of the girls metal scene, has been chosen as the opening act.
Advance tickets will be on sale from Aug. 20-24. Sales of general tickets will begin on Aug. 30. Tickets cost 7,500 yen (tax included), and there is a separate drink cost of 500 yen.
Many rock songs overflowing with speed have been chosen as anime theme songs in recent years. Rock, being a genre that can express the world of anime and the passionate feelings of its characters, can be said to have a very intimate relationship to anime. We hope you can experience this anison rock festival that can’t be savored anywhere else.
