Amagi Brilliant Park - Kyoto Animation’s Newest Work Will Begin Broadcasting This October, Cast Includes Kouki Uchiyama and Ai Kakuma

Kyoto Animation, which has gathered tremendous support from anime fans, is creating an anime based on an original work by Shoji Gatoh of Full Metal Panic! fame. This long-awaited anime is Amagi Brilliant Park.

Information on the broadcast was announced at TBS Anime Festa 2014 held on Aug. 9 at Bunkyo Civic Hall in Tokyo. The broadcast will begin this October on TBS, BS-TBS, MBS, CBC RKB, and TBC. The first broadcast will occur on TBS at 2:03 a.m. on Oct. 2. Because the broadcast has been nailed down, things will likely begin really picking up for this anime.

Along with the broadcast announcement, information on the series was also revealed. First up is the staff, which, in addition to the previously announced Yasuhiro Takemoto as director and Kyoto Animation as the production studio, includes series composer Fumihiko Shimo from such series as Full Metal Panic! and Clannad, character designer Miku Kadowaki of Beyond the Boundary fame, and music composer Shinkichi Mitsumune.

The cast was also announced all at once. Kouki Uchiyama is playing high school student Seiya who is entrusted with rebuilding Amagi Brilliant Park, Japan’s most deplorable amusement park, Ai Kakuma is playing the mysterious and beautiful high school student Isuzu, and Yukiyo Fujii is playing Latifah, the general manager of Amagi Brilliant Park. With the additional cast that includes Ayako Kawasumi, Ai Nonaka, Ryoko Shiraishi, Yuka Aisaka, Tomoyo Kurosawa, Shiori Mikami, and Minami Tsuda, it seems a strange comedy will unfold.

The main stage for the series is Amagi Brilliant Park, Japan’s most deplorable amusement park. Main character Seiya Kanie is a high school student with extraordinary keenness and reflexes and superb looks, but unfortunately he’s a narcissist who doesn’t have any friends. The story begins when he’s forced into accepting an invitation to an amusement park date with his mysterious and beautiful classmate Isuzu… There, he meets Princess Latifah, the manager of Amagi Brilliant Park, and suddenly gets roped into helping rebuild the park. However, Amagi Brilliant Park isn’t your average amusement park.

Also released this time are character setting art for Seiya, Isuzu, and Latifah. Their neat and lovely designs are indicative of KyoAni. Look forward to finding out how this fall 2014 anime develops.
