Mizuho Kusanagi’s manga Akatsuki no Yona which is currently serialized in Hana to Yume (Hakusensha) is becoming an anime to begin broadcasting this October. A new PV will also be shown at the Marvelous booth during Comic Market 86 being held from Aug. 15-17 at Tokyo Big Sight. Akatsuki no Yona is a “Far East fantasy” serialized in Hana no Yume, which celebrates its 40th year of publication this year. The manga has more than 1.4 million copies in print.

The story takes place in the Kingdom of Kouka in which the legend of the four dragons is passed down. The king of this kingdom has no son or queen to succeed the throne from him, except for the 15-year-old princess Yona whom he carefully raises. On her 16th birthday, she had intended to spend the day with her family and Soo-won whom she’s had thoughts of since she was a child. However, cruel fate has something else in store… A shocking fantasy romance is depicted in which Yona’s fate is tied with that of the four dragons.

In charge of producing the anime is Studio Pierrot. Moreover, directing is Kazuhiro Yoneda, the series composer is Shinichi Inotsume, and the character designer is Maho Yoshikawa. Also, Yona is being played by Chiwa Saito, Hak by Tomoaki Maeno, and Soo-won by Yusuke Kobayashi.

A new PV for this anime will be released at the Marvelous booth (East 4F 213) at Comic Market 86 to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from Aug. 15-17. An event called “Akatsuki no Mura no Daienkai” will also be held on Sept. 28 at Hana to Yume Anime Festival taking place at Shinagawa Intercity Hall. In addition to an advance screening of the first two episodes, Saito (Yona) and Maeno (Hak) will talk about the highlights of the series. Check the official site of the Hana to Yume Anime Festival for more details on the event and how to participate.
