Gundam Reconguista in G, the long-awaited TV series by the creator of the Gundam series, Yoshiyuki Tomino, is finally set to begin. Before the broadcast begins in October, a limited two-week screening of the first three episodes of the TV series will take place in 13 theaters around Japan beginning on Aug. 23. In celebration of this screening event, the release of a Blu-ray documentary on G-Reco has been announced. This documentary is called Beginning of Gundam Reconguista in G: From Yoshiyuki Tomino to You.
The documentary Blu-ray gives total coverage behind the production of G-Reco. Viewers can learn the secrets behind the anime’s production based on testimonies from director Yoshiyuki and members of the staff and cast.
Also included in the documentary are interviews with followers from different fields who have inherited the genetics of Gundam, including novelist Harutoshi Fukui who worked on the story to Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, critic Tsunehiro Uno, and others. These interviews highlight G-Reco from many different points of view.
What’s more, the scenario and storyboards to Episode 1 are included as well. Fans are sure to be happy about these extras.
The Blu-ray documentary will be sold in limited quantities from Aug. 23 to Sept. 5 in the 13 theaters at which the screening event will be held. Check the official site for more details.
G-Reco takes place after the Universal Century that director Tomino has depicted to date in a time called the Regild Century. After main character Bellri meets Aida of the Pirate Corps, the mysterious girl Lalaiya, and “G-Self,” his fate begins to stir in this adventure story.
