Madoka Magica Fone App Releases on iPhone, Also Releases Simultaneously in Eight Countries

The smartphone app Puella Magi Madoka Magica Fone that became popular for realizing an unprecedented form of entertainment has finally released on iPhone. The app was also released on the App Store in eight countries on Aug. 4 including Japan, the U.S., Canada, England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The characteristic of the app is that fans in Japan and fans worldwide can experience the world of Madoka Magica through it.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Fone is an app that collects together the charms of the series in a variety of ways. The key to this is the collection of original voice samples, gallery images, icons, and more that the app offers. Users can get a collection item every time they defeat a witch. Also, the collection offered changes depending on the battle results after defeating a witch. One highlight of the app we’d like to point out is the original voice clips of the magical girls. Players can use the voices they’ve collected as alarms on their phone. The magical girls can even play a role in everyday functions. The app comes loaded with usual tools and functions including an alarm and a Kyubey calculator in which Kyubey whistles with every button press on the dialer or number pad.

The app comes in five different versions each themed after a different character: Madoka Ver., Homura Ver., Mami Ver., Kyoko Ver., and Sayaka Ver. Each version of the app costs 300 yen including tax. More than just choosing their favorite characters one by one, fans can install multiple character at a time, which allows other magical girls to come and help. There are also original game events that link the magical girls, including Walpurgis Night. We have also been told that the iPhone version comes with a puzzle mode.

In celebration of this release, two campaigns are being held. In one, which kicked off in Japan on Aug. 5, fans can win an original cell phone stand.
