Gundam Build Fighters Try Broadcast Begins in October, Series New Characters and a New Story

The broadcast for the TV anime Gundam Build Fighters Try will begin on TV Tokyo this October. The show is a TV anime series themed after the Gundam series and intended for kids. It is a sequel to the well received Gundam Build Fighters which broadcast for half a year beginning in October 2013.

Plastic Gundam models called Gunpla are important items in Gundam Build Fighters. This unique Gundam series focuses on the main characters customizing their Gunpla and battling them. Because nostalgic mobile suits make appearances as Gunpla in the show, it’s picking up attention from a wide audience, not just kids.

Though Gundam Build Fighters Try takes place in the same work as Gundam Build Fighters, there will be new characters. The show will also be easy to jump into for those who are new to it.

The story is set seven years after the main characters Sei Iori and Reiji won the 7th Gunpla Battle World Championships. Yajima Industries, a new sponsor of the Gunpla Battle World Championships, completely changes the style and rules to make the battles more popular to a broader audience. However, Seiho Academy is left behind, and when transfer student Sekai Kamiki and young Gunpla builder Yuma Kosaka join the Gunpla Battle Club––which consists of the club president and its only member, Fumina Hoshino––a new challenge begins. Just like the previous series, a story full of drama will unfold.

In charge of planning and production on the anime is Sunrise. Gunpla, a digital card game, toys, capsule toys, game software, videos, and more are also being developed by all branches of Bandai Namco Group, including Bandai, Bandai Namco Games, and Bandai Visual.

The companies involved aim to develop ways of enjoying the world of Gundam through Gunpla and the show, as well as increase Gunpla users. Several other Gundam works are also being developed including this year’s finale to Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, the new Gundam Reconguista in G, and next year’s Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. The series’ popularity and world is expanding even more.

Among these works, the Gundam Build Fighters series is one whose main target is kids. This could very well be a monumental work that raises a new generation of Gundam fans.
