Things are finally starting to pick up for Garo: Honō no Kokuin, which will begin broadcasting this fall. The official site for the anime opened on July 10. Along with the site update, a new visual was released as well as an introduction. Here, the concept behind the anime’s story and details regarding four of the main characters have been revealed.
The four character’s names are Leon, Herman, Alfonso, and Ema. Leon is a Makai Knight who burns with revenge for the loss of his mother. He journeys with Herman who raised him as the Golden Knight. Another character introduced is Alfonso, a prince burning with the desire to bring peace to his people after his country is taken from him. The content of the anime is quite different from that of the Garo series to date. There is also the Makai Priest Ema who hasn’t decided on the means of her own revenge. Though she is a main character, she may end up becoming a villain. Keep your eyes on how these characters will become intertwined.
The introduction page on the official site also has a glossary that defines Makai Knight, Golden Knight, Golden Knight Garo, and Horrors. These are the same terms used in the Garo series to date. Though there is a big change to the setting and time period, the anime will be set in the same world as the rest of the series. As the catch phrase says, “The golden fangs that cut through the darkness and the fate of flames belong to me!,” fans can expect the Golden Knight to play a big role. Just what kind of story will develop? Look forward to the fall broadcast.
Garo: Honō no Kokuin is the first anime in the popular tokusatsu series Garo. It is being directed by Yūichirō Hayashi, with the series composer and writer being Yasuko Kobayashi, a well-known name among tokusatsu shows who has worked on the Garo series as well as Attack on Titan. This is an interesting staff lineup.
