Video & Report: E3 2014

The Electronics Entertainment Expo, or E3, is a yearly three-day trade show in Los Angeles made exclusively for members of the video game industry. At this event, information is announced by game software and hardware companies about new products that will be released throughout the year, or within the next few years. E3 takes place at the same building which hosts the upcoming Anime Expo Convention, less than one month after.

Popular exhibitors for this event include Microsoft Corporation, Nintendo, Sony Computer Entertainment, Ubisoft and EA. Each of these companies hold press conferences in enormous theatre halls which are simulcast live around the world. Media outlets come from every corner of the globe to be the first to report on the most exciting video game news of the year. I was fortunate enough to meet fellow journalists from France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, and Panama - all of us connected with one another through our love of video game series like the Legend of Zelda, Metal Gear Solid, and Assassin's Creed.

Nintendo unveiled a number of games, including a tease by Shigeru Miyamoto that Nintendo was working on a new Star Fox game! Mr. Miyamoto himself was present at the event to show gameplay of some multiplayer games for the Wii U. He can be seen in the video above. Another big announcement by Nintendo was the use of Amiibo figures for the Wii U, which will allow gamers to store data of in-game avatars like Mario, so that the character can level up!

As for my own personal experience at E3, I couldn't get enough of Ubisoft's latest dance game, Just Dance 2015 for Wii U. Another incredible experience was a gameplay demonstration of the new Batman game, Arkham Knight. I am very excited to control the Batmobile in that game. A life-sized batmobile was constructed specifically to be displayed at E3 2014.

At the end of the trade show, I left feeling proud to be a gamer. Gaming is a world-wide industry. Because no matter where you come from, we all want to have fun playing games.
