With the live action movie starring popular Japanese actor Haruma Miura slated for a much anticipated 2015 release, the world-wide frenzy over the ‘Attack on Titan’ series is still going strong. Set in a dystopic future, ‘Attack on Titans’ tells the tale of protagonist Eren Yeager and his fellow humans in their long-waging war against man-eating giants who have taken the world. Forced to live within the walls of heavy barricades, the series describes the plight of humans in an imaginary world and has captured fans female and male, young and old, all around the world.
The military-style uniform the characters in the series wear is no stranger to fans. It is distinct and stylish in its own right, and extremely popular with cosplayers. However, have you ever wondered how the characters would look like if they were transported to our world and have to wear clothes that ordinary people (ok, rather fashionable ordinary people) wear? Well, imagine no more! Germany-based artist S.Y. Ho has realized that fantasy just for you with her illustration of ‘Attack on Titan’ characters clad in ‘civilian clothing’.
From the protagonist Eren to fan favorites like Mikasa and Levi, the illustration lines up over 40 characters from the series, all dressed in dark-toned clothing that supposedly reflects each character’s personality. Seeing as most of the characters in the series give off a cool vibe, all of the male are wearing long pants with fitting cuts, while most of the girls have on leggings or knee-high and shorts. On top of a full spread of all the characters, the artist also has sets in which related characters are grouped together in close-up shots, such as a set featuring Eren, Mikasa and Armin, and another featuring Jean, Conny and Marco’s spirit. There is also a playful set with some of the characters piled on a bicycle. The artist seems to like Hanji a lot and has drawn her in various poses, as well as clad in casual hip-hop wear while dancing.
