Kodansha’s new monthly subscription service Joshi Comi will launch on the Yahoo Bookstore on June 5. It’s a service that allows users to be able to read new shoujo manga every day. The lineup for Joshi Comi includes more than 40 titles from Kodansha’s shoujo manga magazines. This is the first paid reading service in the world exclusively for shoujo manga.
Many popular manga are lined up for Joshi Comi. This includes many big hit works from a number of magazines including L DK currently serialized in Bessatsu Friend, Say “I Love You” currently serialized in Dessert, and Chihayafuru currently serialized in Be Love. Also included are many works that have been adapted into live-action movies and TV anime including Kuragehime (Author: Akiko Higashimura) from Kiss and Sabagebu! (Author: Hidekichi Matsumoto) from Nakayoshi.
Coming together for the service are the newest all-star works by many names from the world of shoujo manga, from young authors to veterans, including Ginbankishi, the newest work from Yayoi Ogawa who is famous from Kimi wa Pet, and P to JK from up-and-coming author Maki Mitsugi. In addition to this will be Secret Heaven, the debut work by Ayu Watanabe of L DK, Are mo Shitai, Kore mo Shitai, a previous work by Kanae Hazuki of Say “I Love You”, the short story Harukoi by Yuki Suetsugu of Chihayafuru, and other loved works from popular authors.
One chapter of these works will be released every day on Joshi Comi. The newest chapters from roughly 20 works including L DK and Chihayafuru will begin being published along with roughly 20 works including Kinbankishi and P to JK that can be read from the beginning. The monthly cost of the service is 300 yen (excluding tax). Those with a Yahoo Premium account will be able to use the service for free. Also, a portion of the Joshi Comi titles will be released for free on the teaser site that is open now.
