The popular RPG Persona 4 Golden released in 2012 by Atlus is becoming an anime. The anime’s broadcast will begin in July during Animeism on MBS. This was announced during the May 3 episode of Mayonaka Nama TV distributed on Nico Nico Live. Immediately following the show, the official site was launched and things started coming alive for the summer broadcast.
Persona 4 Golden is an updated version of the 2008 RPG Persona 4 that released on the PS Vita. Persona 4 was also made into an anime in 2011 which became a big hit. The announcement of this continuing with an anime for Persona 4 Golden is surely happy news for fans.
Many of the same staff members from the Persona 4 TV anime are returning to create this new anime. Directing is Tomohisa Taguchi who was in charge of Episodes 8 and 14 of the previous anime and who also left a strong impression with the opening, which he also directed. Seiji Kishi, who directed the previous anime, is also helping create the new anime as the chief director. The staff is strengthened by Jun Kumagai as series composer and Yu Shindo as character designer, both of whom were also in charge of important parts of the Persona 4 anime. The familiar Shuju Meguru, whose work was used in the game, is in charge of the music. The anime is being created by A-1 Pictures.
Even the cast is full of familiar faces. Playing main character Yu Narukami is Daisuke Namikawa. Other cast members include Showtaro Morikubo, Yui Horie, Ami Koshimizu, Tomokazu Seki, Rie Kugimiya, Romi Paku, and Kappei Yamaguchi. Kana Hanazawa is also joining the cast as new character Marie. Marie is a new inhabitant of the Velvet Room, but aside from this fact, she has no memories. She is a mysterious girl with peculiar interests.
The story begins with Yu Narukami arriving at Yasoinaba Station in Inaba. Yu then enters the local Yasogami High School. At the same time, a string of murders occur in the city and Yu and his friends get involved in a series of incidents after learning of the existence of the Midnight Channel, a TV channel that only comes on at midnight.
