Pokémon Comes to the Planetarium! New Story Unfolds in Fulldome Video

This summer, the Konica Minolta Planetarium will offer a planetarium show of the hit TV anime series Pokémon XY entitled Pokémon XY: Fragments of the Sky.

The original story written exclusively for planetariums has been produced as a fulldome video projected onto a full 360-degree dome. One thing to look out for is how great Ash and friends are presented in such an intense medium.

It will be shown at Konica Minolta’s Planetarium Tenku in Tokyo Skytree Town in Sumida, Tokyo, and at their Planetarium Manten in Sunshine City in Toshima, Tokyo, beginning in July. Additional screenings are scheduled afterwards in planetariums across the country.

The story begins with Ash and friends visiting a space research and development organization known as PAXA.

They are excited when they hear from a PAXA astronaut how wonderful space is and that there may be Pokémon living there.

However, she also tells them about the threat of space debris and the increasing danger caused by space refuse, and as they’re listening, a siren suddenly goes off. With plans to rob PAXA, Team Rocket has apparently infiltrated the premises. On top of this already urgent situation, a problem occurs with a satellite’s regulation system.

Without the system working, there is a possibility of the satellite colliding with a large piece of debris and creating even more space debris. If the area around the planet becomes filled with more debris, the way into space will be closed to mankind forever.

Faced with this danger, Ash joins forces with his friends to put up a fight.
