On March 22, it was announced that the popular light novel Rail Wars! Nihon Kokuyū Tetsudō Kōantai is becoming a TV anime. The title of the anime is Rail Wars! An anime version was previously hinted at, but now it’s been made official. It will broadcast this summer on TBS and BS-TBS. However, that is all we know at the present, so we’ll have to wait for upcoming announcements regarding the production staff and cast.
Rail Wars! Nihon Kokuyū Tetsudō Kōantai began being published in January 2012 by Sohgeisha Clear Bunko (Sohgeisha). Eight volumes have been published so far. The author of the series is Takumi Toyoda and the illustrator is Vania 600. The secret to its popularity is its charming characters and youthful story.
The premise of the story is a bit strange. The story takes place in a different Japan in which the national railway system was never privatized. It’s a parallel world that resembles modern day Japan. The story mainly depicts four high school students who work for the Railway Security Force: Naoto Takayama, Aoi Sakurai, Haruka Kōmi, and Shō Iwaizumi. Fans are no doubt taking notice of how the story will be expressed in the anime version.
