Haruka Fukuhara, Shoko Nakagawa, Mitsuko Horie, and Momoiro Clover Z Perform at Commemorative Live Event for Sailor Moon Album

A live event called “MTV Live 2014 Supported by Shidax with Live Dam - Sailor Moon the 20th Anniversary Memorial Tribute” commemorating the release of the Sailor Moon tribute album was held on Feb. 27 at Zepp Tokyo. As expected from such a long-standing series loved by countless girls, the album is creating buzz due to the participation of many artists who are fans of Sailor Moon. Among these artists, four appeared at the live event: Haruka Fukuhara, Shoko Nakagawa, Mitsuko Horie, and Momoiro Clover Z. It was a wonderful group of performers tied to Sailor Moon.

The first to perform was Haruka Fukuhara who sang “Princess Moon” amid passionate clapping and cheers from the crowd. Next up was Shoko Nakagawa who talked openly about her thoughts on the series: “I grew up thinking about Sailor Moon. Everything in that world was jam-packed with Sailor Moon.” She went on to sing the Sailor Moon songs “Heart Moving,” “Otome Policy,” and “‘Rashiku’ Ikimahyo.” The breadth of her thoughts on the series were wonderfully displayed through her singing voice, and the crowd’s enthusiasm reached a climax.

After this, anime song queen Mitsuko Horie took the stage. To date, Horie has sung over 1,000 anime songs, and she voiced the character Galaxia in Sailor Moon: Sailor Stars. She had the crowd boiling over when she sang the theme song to the anime, “Sailor Star Song.”

Last to take the stage were the five members of Momoiro Clover Z dressed in Sailor Moon parkas. Dressed up as Usagi Tsukino was Reni Takagi who belted out part of her famous line, saying, “Thank you for coming to my 20th anniversary celebration today. Everyone, if you don’t get fired up, I’ll punish you in the name of the moon!” For the finale, they performed their song “Tuxedo Mirage” for the first time.

Thus, the wild one-night event came to a close as a huge success. The event will be broadcast on MTV on March 29. Though the staff still hasn’t been announced, make sure to keep your eyes on the new Sailor Moon anime from here on.
