The long-awaited TV anime adaptation of Haruichi Furudate’s popular volleyball comic Haikyū!!, which is currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (published by Shueisha), will begin broadcasting on April 6 (Sun.) at 17:00 (JST) on MBS and countrywide in Japan on 28 TBS channels.
Haikyū!! is themed around high school volleyball. Wanting to exact revenge, Hinata joins the Volleyball Club at Karasuno High School. There, he finds his rival, Kageyama?! The comic has over 3 million copies in print and is being showered in attention as being the next big sports manga. Now, the long-awaited TV anime is finally drawing near. The anime is being created by Production I.G.
The artists for the opening and ending themes have also been announced. The artist for the opening theme is Spyair, a band with break-neck momentum that ranked at No. 2 on the Oricon chart for their album Million released last year and that played to sold-out crowds all over Japan during their countrywide tour. The opening theme, “Imagination,” is a high-speed rock tune with full-throttle lyrics about adolescence that appropriately fit Haikyū!! The ending theme is “Tenchi Gaeshi” by Nico Touches the Walls. Look forward to an energetic performance by this band that is pulling Japan’s up-and-coming band scene in tow!
