Masterpiece anime often have food scenes. Such scenes resound in many people’s hearts as being famous scenes. For example, the ramen that Lisa makes for Sōsuke and Ponyo in Ponyo or the rye bread and cheese Heidi eats in her grandpa’s mountain hut in Heidi, Girl of the Alps.
On Feb. 11 at the Tokyo Anime Center with Aruaru City in Akihabara, Tokyo, the first part of the Animesia Project, a project for creating real-life versions of food from such famous anime scenes, began. This was a collaboration with the UDX Building’s food zone, Akibaichi, to create real dishes from popular anime.
Anime to have already been included in the Animesia Project include Girls und Panzer, Moribito, Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion, Love Live!, and Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel. The project is full of many popular works. However, I’d like to introduce the plates that interested me. Those being the “Meatball Spaghetti” and “Prosciutto Cuts and San Daniele Ham” that are being offered at Chiocciol@Pizzeria located on the first floor of Akibaichi.
A light bulb probably goes off for many fans when they hear these. They both appeared in a famous scene in the 1979 movie Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, which was director Hayao Miyazaki’s first theatrical movie. After obtaining Clarisse’s ring, Lupin heads to a restaurant in town to regroup and restrategize. It is at that table that he eats the meatball spaghetti. He eats it heartily and the two of them scramble over it; it’s enough to make anyone who has seen it want to eat it.
Because Chiocciol@Pizzeria is a Western-style restaurant, you can also expect a flavor to match. The spaghetti will be served from Feb. 11-16. Lupin and Miyazaki fans will likely find themselves heading to the restaurant before they even realize it.
