“I Can See It! I Can See 3D Images!” Gundam Introduced to Second Round of Hako Vision Series

Bandai has announced that Mobile Suit Gundam will be used in the second phase of the “Hako Vision” series. The “Hako Vision Mobile Suit Gundam” will make use of original images superimposed on a figure to create pseudo-3D projection mapping.

In charge of the creative direction of “Hako Vision” is Ryōtarō Muramatsu of Naked Inc. Beginning with the Tokyo Michiterasu 2012 event captured in the “Tokyo Hikari Vision,” Muramatsu has been handling creating the videos for 3D projection mapping events. “Tokyo Hikari Vision” and “Tokyo National Museum Karakuri” were picked up for the first round of “Hako Vision” products.

The characteristic of Bandai’s “Hako Vision” series, which will begin being released this year, is the “Hako Vision Technology” that has been developed. This technology allows for beautiful visuals showing the world of a work to be recreated in the palm of your hand using an interweaving of pictures and a figure inside a square box roughly 8.5 centimeters in length. The package comes as a set with a figure and a clear plate along with a 2D code that brings it all to life after being read by a smartphone. Just by setting the phone facing down and toward the figure, you can experience various pseudo-3D images.

“Hako Vision Mobile Suit Gundam” will release on April 14. The lineup includes two versions: “RX-78-2 Gundam” and “MS-06S Zaku II.” Each one costs ¥540 (tax included) and comes with one figure, one clear plate, and one piece of gum. Will you choose the Gundam or the Char Zaku? Experience a new “Gundam world” with the different visuals that each one offers.
