Winter Wonder Festival 2014 is going to be held on Feb. 9 (Sun) at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Chiba Prefecture. This notable event gathers together figure lovers from Japan and abroad and is a great success every time.
Wonder Festival (WonFes) started in 1984 as is considered the world’s biggest garage kit event. Regardless of being a pro or an amateur, figure makers all bring their kits that they create to the best of their abilities to put them on display and sell them. WonFes is held twice every year, in the summer and winter, and there are also limited edition figures and one-of-a-kind models that can only be purchased on the day of the event. It is held in Makuhari Messe, a venue with an enormous space equivalent to eight halls of the International Exhibition Center put together (54,000 m 2).
In the beginning, attendees were mostly young model maniacs. At present, however, the event shows a wider range both in gender and age, as there are also female attendees and those who bring along their family. In recent years, there have been many foreign attendees as well. The number of visitors grows every year. Winter Wonder Festival 2013, which was held in February of last year, recorded more than 50,000 attendees.
The exhibition hall is divided into an area where pro makers display their figures and an area crowded with amateurs. The displayed models are very diverse and range from movie characters to battle vehicles, cars, robots, and other machinery. There are even comical ones depicting things one would be surprised to see as a model.
Again, there are also many one-of-a-kind and limited edition items. If you were to come across the figure of your dreams, we recommend that you buy it without hesitation.
It isn’t only figures that make WonFes awesome, though. There is also a cosplay hall that is always bustling with cosplayers.

Snow Miku, who is wearing the costume most voted on by fans, is turning 5 in 2014. Besides the magic book pedestal which can be used to store accessories, other items such as a magic stick, magic effect, a magic circle, and sitting parts are also included.
Thanks to the original figma joints, Snow Miku can now take up any kind of pose! This figure comes with three facial expressions: a smiling face, a cheerful singing face, and a blushy shy face. The accessories include a demountable scarf, a pair of gloves, and a mascot snowman holding a microphone. The package also contains a pedestal exclusively for figmas with a mobile support pillar that makes various poses possible.
