An auction for a special Lady Gaga inspired version of Hello Kitty is currently being held on Yahoo Auctions until Dec. 23. The auction is one part in a charity auction to help those affected by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.
This special version of Hello Kitty is limited to only two in the world, with one being up for auction and the other owned by Lady Gaga herself. Yuko Yamaguchi, the designer of Sanrio’s Hello Kitty, also designed this version which includes blonde hair and a white suit decorated with rhinestone sea shells.
A similar charity auction was held in April of 2012 in which a teacup used by Lady Gaga was auctioned off. More than 1,300 people bid on the item, with the closing big being ￥6,011,000.
Regarding the auction, Lady Gaga commented, “I am very concerned about the future of Japan and its people. And I want to help Japan in whatever way I can.”
