In 2014, the movie Godzilla, first released in 1954, will turn 60. Matching up with this, a new Hollywood version of Godzilla will be released in Japan on July 25, 2014. A poster and trailer of the movie are now available. The film is being distributed in Japan by Toho and will be released in both 2D and 3D.
Sitting in the director’s chair is Gareth Edwards, an up-and-coming film director who received acclaim for the film Monsters. A self-proclaimed Godzilla fan, Edwards is bringing the series back to its Japanese roots, closely capturing the silhouette and cry of the original Japanese version of Godzilla.
The Japanese cast is also picking up attention for its inclusion of Ken Watanabe. Akira Takarada who acted in the original 1954 film will also appear in the film. We are excited to see how this movie will turn out.
