The Blu-ray and DVD of the TV anime Nekomonogatari (White) Chapter 2: Tsubasa Tiger (Second Half) based on the original work by novelist Nisio Isin sold 37,000 copies in its first week of sales and ranked No. 1 on the Oricon Blu-ray ranking for the week of Dec. 9. The first half of “Tsubasa Tiger” also achieved first place on the ranking when it released in October.
Blu-ray and DVD sales for the Monogatari series––which to date includes Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Nekomonogatari (Black), and Nekomonogatari (White)––have now surpassed 1 million copies.
Nekomonogatari (White) began broadcasting on Tokyo MX and other networks in July of this year as one part in the collectively titled Monogatari Series Second Season which is comprised of six chapters: Nekomonogatari (White), Kabukimonogatari, Hanamonogatari, Otorimonogatari, Onimonogatari, and Koimonogatari. Though the broadcast date of Hanamonogatari is yet to be determined, release dates for the Blu-rays and DVDs of other chapters in the series have already been decided on, and it seems that sales of the series will continue increasing from here on.
